Yarelis Salgado

Yarelis Yvette Salgado Rodríguez (born 1994) is a Puerto Rican actress, model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned as Miss International Puerto Rico 2018 and represented Puerto Rico at Miss International 2018 pageant.[1]

Life and career

Early life

Salgado hails from Rio Grande. She currently a student at the University of Puerto Rico–Bayamon Campus, she is majoring in Biology and hopes to pursue a career as pediatric oncologist. She hopes to attend medical school at Columbia University. She's had her eyes on being a doctor since the first grade, though there was a brief time she considered architecture. But her desire to help others led to medicine. She hopes to specialize in oncology and her platform is connected to her future. Give A Smile to A Child with Cancer is about helping the youngest cope with the disease.

Pageantry

In 2014, Salgado was crowned Miss Puerto Rico 2014 pageant and she will represent her country Miss America 2015 pageant, was held at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey on 14 September 2014. while she failed to place in the top 16 semifinalists. In 2018, Salgado previously competed in Miss World Puerto Rico 2018 representing Toa Alta, where she placed 2nd Runner-Up. And also was appointed Miss International Puerto Rico 2018 by Nuestra Belleza Puerto Rico. She is now the official representative of Puerto Rico at Miss International 2018. She succeeds Miss International Puerto Rico 2016 Gabriela Berrios as the country skipped its participation last year due to Hurricane Maria.[2][3]
