History
A construction permit for WYDC was given in 1993 to an engineer and his wife, and the station signed on as an independent station the following year under the branding Big TV. The station later joined the United Paramount Network (UPN) in 1995. Vision Communications bought the station in 1997, upgraded its facilities, and signed an affiliation deal with Fox; prior to WYDC's affiliation with Fox, the network's programming was only available to cable and satellite viewers in the Elmira market via the Foxnet service. UPN programming still ran as a secondary affiliation for a few years.[2]

WYDC shut down its analog signal, over UHF channel 48, on June 12, 2009, the official date in which full-power television stations in the United States transitioned from analog to digital broadcasts under federal mandate. The station's digital signal relocated from its pre-transition UHF channel 50 to channel 48.[4]
Repeaters
In addition to its main signal, WYDC can also be seen on five low-powered repeaters (two analog and three digital). WYDC was also formerly repeated on WMYH-LP in Elmira/Watkins Glen, which is no longer licensed.
