Pirate Radio logo

The station was assigned the WIVI call sign by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission on May 17, 1988.[3] The station had branded itself as "Pirate Radio" before a flip to the "Hitz 96" moniker on October 1, 2009 and again reverting to the "Pirate Radio" moniker in 2015.

The station swapped call signs and formats with its sister station WWKS on July 1, 2017.

Ownership

In May 2007, WIVI was sold by Rox Radio Enterprises Inc. (Jason Ackley, president, CEO) to Gordon P. Ackley. Rox Radio, 60% owned by Gordon Ackley, assigned WIVI to GARK LLC, which is 100% owned by Ackley, for a reported $300,000.[4]

gollark: Is "finger" a metaphor for "things which are not actually fingers"?
gollark: I'm not looking at any fingers. Except possibly my own, since they are in front of me when I use a keyboard. Unless you count the kermit's in the thumbnail.
