History

1964

In 1964, Peter & John Radio Fellowship, Inc., acquired WRBS (95.1). Its format included ministry teaching programs and Christian music until 2009.

WRBS upgraded its facilities in 1972, to 50kW and 24 hours daily as part of a move from East Cold Spring Lane in Baltimore to its present site at 3500 Commerce Drive.

On August 3, 2009, WRBS-FM was re-branded as 95.1 SHINE-FM, featuring contemporary Christian music by artists including MercyMe, Lauren Daigle, for KING & COUNTRY, Tauren Wells, Hillsong United, and more.

In September 2011, 95.1 SHINE-FM was recognized by the Christian Music Broadcasters (CMB) as the Major Market Station of the Year at its annual Echo Awards in Orlando, Florida.

On January 1st, 2019, SHINE-FM introduced a new format that reduced commercials by 60%, allowing the station to play more music.

gollark: The WHY which esobot supports is the nonJIT version.
gollark: WHY (the compiler) is very fast. Code it outputs is not fast.
gollark: Basically, the WHYJIT compiler reads your code, adds a busy loop and makes a shellscript containing that code and the entire C compiler which, when run, unpacks the C compiler, uses it to compile the C, and executes the output.
gollark: Also, it has a JIT version.
gollark: It also sticks your code into main.
