On January 25, 2008, it was announced that the station, then licensed as WSYR-FM, was one of several Clear Channel radio stations to be sold, in order to remain under the ownership caps following the sale of Clear Channel to private investors. Until it is sold, WSYR-FM and other stations to be sold will be placed into the Aloha Stations Trust. (, ) In December 2010, Clear Channel and Aloha filed to switch the station's call sign to WPHR-FM in order to make the WSYR-FM calls available to the then-current WPHR-FM in Solvay, New York (a suburb of Syracuse) as part of its conversion to an FM simulcast of WSYR.

On April 25, 2011, the station switched from Hot Adult Contemporary to conservative-based talk programming. Programming was primarily from the standard Clear Channel slate, including a simulcast of WJNO's morning show, The Glenn Beck Program, The Rush Limbaugh Show, The Sean Hannity Show, The Mark Levin Show, The Jason Lewis Show, and Coast to Coast AM. At the time, WPHR used the "Rush Radio" brand.

On December 26, 2013, WPHR changed their format to country, branded as "Hot Country 94.7", under new owners R&S Radio.[1] WPHR has DJs on at all times of day including Rachel Morgan heard Saturday mornings from 10am till 2pm. Wake up with Monica Black every weekday morning with 3 hours of commercial free music. Catch Zac every weekday morning from 10–3. Join John Anthony from 3-7 weekdays, followed by Christa Stone 7-12 through Saturday & Shane from 12–6. The Treasure Coasts "Local" Country station.

On September 9, 2016, WPHR rebranded as "Fresh Country, B94.7". No other changes are planned at this time.
