The municipality covers an area of 7.73 square kilometres (2.98 sq mi), and has a population of 415 (as at 28 August 2006).

Valtrovice lies approximately 15 kilometres (9 mi) east of Znojmo, 53 km (33 mi) south-west of Brno, and 193 km (120 mi) south-east of Prague.
