Total DramaRama (originally titled Total Daycare Drama or Total Drama Daycare) is a Canadian-American animated comedy series. It is a crossover prequel spin-off set in an alternate universe of Total Drama and 6teen and is the 2nd spin-off of Total Drama, after The Ridonculous Race. Created by Tom McGillis and Jennifer Pertsch, the series is produced by Fresh TV Inc. in association with Corus Entertainment and Cartoon Network, and distributed by Cake Entertainment. It premiered on Cartoon Network in the United States on September 1, 2018, on Teletoon in Canada on October 7, 2018, on POP in the United Kingdom on 3 June 2019, and on K2 in Italy on 8 April 2019.

The series premiered in France on Canal+ Family and on Télétoon+ on 4 November 2019.[1] On February 13, 2019, the series was green lit for a second season, which premiered in the United States on January 11, 2020.[2]

On June 23, 2020, Corus Entertainment announced that the series was renewed for a third season, set to premiere in Canada in mid-year 2021.[3][4]

Premise

The series re-introduces some of the original "Total Drama" characters in an alternate universe where they are aged down from teenagers to toddlers, being taken care of by Chef Hatchet. Each episode features dream sequences, cutaways, visual jokes, confessionals, and flashbacks.[5] A Ridonculous Race contestant, MacArthur, has made recurring appearances and several other characters from the Total Drama series and The Ridonculous Race have made cameo appearances throughout the series.

  • Nikki, another character from 6teen has made a non-speaking cameo in "Duck Duck Juice".
  • Megan Fahlenbock reprises her role as Gwen in "Tiger Fail".
  • Terry McGurrin also reprises his role as Don, the host of The Ridonculous Race, who is working as a scientist in "Know it All".
  • Geoff makes a very brief cameo in a slot machine in "Stay Goth, Poodle Girl, Stay Goth"
  • Katie, Trent, and DJ make a cameo in the episode "Gum and Gummer".
  • Devin, Carrie, and Chet make a brief cameo in Harold's comic in "Invasion Of The Booger Snatchers".
  • Geoff and Katie make a cameo at the beach in "Duncan Disorderly".

Season 2:

  • Dwayne Hill reprises his role as Josh in "The Tooth About Zombies" and "Total Eclipse of the Fart."
  • Don makes a non-speaking cameo in "Exercising the Demons".
  • Max and Ella make an appearance in "Dissing Cousins", Sunday Muse reprises her role as Ella and Tristan Mammitzsch voices Max.

Production

The show was under production as of December 19, 2017.[5][6] It first aired in the U.S. on Cartoon Network on September 1, 2018.[7] Jennifer Pertsch revealed in an interview with TV Kids that Fresh took "11 favorites from the original cast and aged them down to 4".[8]

It was originally titled Total Daycare Drama as confirmed by Christine Thompson as well as ads by Cartoon Network. It was later titled Total Drama Daycare before becoming known as Total DramaRama, a reference to the audition tape from generation two contestant, Anne Maria.[7]
