The population of the village is approximately 1,117 people. Tichá is surrounded by the Moravian-Silesian Beskids. Every year in January there is a local event called Tichavský tuleň (Tichá's seal), where people have to cross a bridge over the Tichávka river without falling into the water. The bridge is made out of a tree trunk.
