Plot
May (played by Anne Reid) is an unremarkable grandmother from Northern England. When her husband dies on a visit to their children in London, she recedes into the background of their busy lives.
Trapped in an unfamiliar city, May fears that she has become an invisible woman whose life is more or less over; to combat this, she embarks on a sexual affair with Darren (Daniel Craig), younger and married, who is renovating her son's house and who is her daughter's lover. As her sexual desire turns into emotional longing, May drifts into a point-of-no-return, with devastating results for those around her.
