Thịt kho tàu

Caramelized pork and eggs[1] (Vietnamese: Thịt kho tàu) is a Vietnamese dish[2] consisting of marinated pork and boiled eggs braised in coconut juice.

Although it is a normal everyday dish in southern Vietnam,[3] it is also one of the traditional foods during Tết[4] (or Lunar New Year). Before the dish is served for general consumption, the dish is offered to deceased ancestors or family members[5] on altars.

In Vietnam, rice is commonly served alongside this dish.[6]
