Music video

The music video for "Teary Eyed" takes place mainly in an insane asylum with Elliott in a straight jacket. In between cuts she is looking at an injured man on a hospital bed (the man she is singing about). As usual Elliot uses her sample technique to promote the song "Meltdown" by performing in the middle of the video. There are various shots of a car flipping and bursting into flames due to Elliott stabbing a hole in the front left tire out of her anger.

Chart performance

In the U.S. the song did not chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and became one of her most unsuccessful singles to date. In the UK it was released on September 26, 2005 but it was also unsuccessful there, missing top 40 singles chart, peaking at #47. This was her first solo single to do so. The failure of "Teary Eyed" could be partly due to the fact the video for the single was only released a week before the single was released in stores. Due to the failure of the single to chart in the top 40 in the UK, it was quickly withdrawn from radio playlists. In Australia however, it reached the Top 40 of the ARIA Charts, peaking at number 36, making it the singles highest charting position in any country. The video for the song made it to number 7 on the MTV Most Requested video playlist chart in Australia.

In October, "Teary Eyed" debuted at #18 on the U.S.'s Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart and only managed to peak at #17, one position higher. On the issue date of February 11, 2006, the song debuted at #45 on the Hot Dance Club Play, and in March, the song spent only one week on the Hot 100 Singles Sales chart. However, "Teary Eyed" wasn't a total U.S. failure, debuting within the top 20 of the Hot Dance Singles Sales chart.

Notes

gollark: I have to admit that this *would* be an interesting way to do multi-person-owned shops.
gollark: People have shops and those have brand names and such, but those aren't companies; mostly profit just goes right to the owner and investment is done by loans negotiated between individuals.
gollark: In my opinion, the main reason for that is that companies don't exactly exist here.
gollark: No stock exchange ever actually *happened*, and a centralized one would be easier to do than this.
gollark: I'm not sure how many people would actually bother to develop complex exchange code and such.
