Tearce has an Albanian majority. The remaining population is Macedonian, Turkish, and Roma. The village was affected by the conflict of 2001, which strained relations between the ethnic groups in the village. On 22 January 2001 the police station at Tearce was shelled, killing one policeman and injuring three others.

According to the 2002 census, the village had a total of 3974 inhabitants.[1] Ethnic groups in the village include:[1]

Sports
Local football club KF Tearca–97 have played in the Macedonian Third League.
