Stevan Marković (politician)
Stevan Marković (26 December 1804 in Zemun – 29 November 1864 in Vienna) was Serbian politician and member of the Society Of Serbian Letters.

Biography
Marković finished elementary school in Zemun in 1815, and high school in Sremski Karlovci in 1821. He studied at a university in Austria, and in 1834 he moved to Serbia. At first, he was a court scribe in Kragujevac in 1834, and from 1835 Marković was a member of the Government, and also Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister.
Marković became A Director of the Prince's office on 28 September 1837, the chief secretary of the Government Council in 1839, and a regular member of the State Council from 1842 to 1857.
He was appointed on 27 May 1842 as the first member of the Society Of Serbian Letters and held the tenure of the president of the society from 1854 to 1857.
Marković was the Minister of Justice and Education from 21 December 1854 to 29 May 1856 and from 16 September 1856 to 19 June 1857. He was Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs from 29 May to 16 September 1856, the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 19 June 1857 to 31 March 1858. After the return of Prince Miloš Obrenović to Serbia, he left the country.
He died in Vienna in 1864.
