Staňkov (Domažlice District)

Staňkov (Czech pronunciation: [ˈstaɲkof]) (German: Stankau) is a town in the Plzeň Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 3,000 inhabitants. It lies on the Radbuza River, some 30 km (19 mi) to the southwest from the region capital of Plzeň.

Staňkov is also a Municipality with Commissioned Local Authority within the Horšovský Týn Municipality with Extended Competence.

History

During the World War II, the metalworks in Staňkov were accidentally bombed by the RAF on 28 October 1940 when they were mistaken for the nearby Škoda Works.[2]
