History

The Sikkim Football Association was formed in the year 1976, previously it was known as the Gangtok Football and Sporting Association. Sikkim Football dates back with Local team Kumar Sporting club.[1][2][3]

In 2010 with Football in Sikkim on a down low due to the lack of football organizing, former India Football Team Captain Baichung Bhutia, who was also .born in Sikkim, founded the club United Sikkim which was founded in order to help increase interest in football in the state.
