History

The Eastern Bengal Railway constructed a 1,676 mm (5 ft 6 in) wide Broad Gauge Railway from Sealdah to Baruipur in 1882. The Jaynagar Majilpur line was constructed by Eastern Bengal Railway in 1882. It was extended up to Lakshmikantapur railway station in 1928.[3] Thereafter the line was extended up to Kakdwip in 2001 and up to Namkhana in 2006.[4] Baruipur to Lakshmikantapur line including Shasan Road station was electrified in 1965-66 and Lakshmikantapur to Kakdwip in 1992-2000 and Kakdwip to Namkhana railway station in 2005.[5]

gollark: PotatOS is programmed in the bracketless style and it looks waaay better.
gollark: You're wrong then.
gollark: You do not need the brackets.
gollark: It was designed to allow variable-sized metadata blocks instead of the fixed 8192B of before, which in retrospect was not hugely useful, so the start/end are how far *after the metadata region* each thing is.
gollark: Something like `{"tracks": [{"title": "bee movie full soundtrack", "start": 0, "end": 600000}] }`, while odd-looking, is valid JSON.
