History

The Eastern Bengal Railway constructed a 1,676 mm (5 ft 6 in) wide Broad Gauge Railway from Sealdah to Baruipur in 1882. The Jaynagar Majilpur line was constructed by Eastern Bengal Railway in 1882. It was extended up to Lakshmikantapur railway station in 1928.[2] Thereafter the line was extended up to Kakdwip railway station in 2001 and up to Namkhana in 2006.[3] Baruipur to Lakshmikantapur line was electrified in 1965-66 and Lakshmikantapur to Kakdwip including Kulpi railway station in 1992-2000 and Kakdwip to Namkhana railway station in 2005–06.[4]

gollark: But only two of them, so it's a bike.
gollark: Why not put wheels on ITER, the experimental fusion thing?
gollark: Actually, the RTG idea is silly, just use a proper fission reactor.
gollark: Nuclear power is good, though, so obviously adding it to your e-bike is good.
