Sawa Suzuki

Sawa Yoshikawa (吉川 砂羽, Yoshikawa Sawa, born September 20, 1972, in Naka-ku, Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan),[1][2] better known by her stage name Sawa Suzuki (鈴木 砂羽, Suzuki Sawa), is a Japanese actress who is represented by the talent agency Horipro.

Biography

After dropping out from Joshibi University of Art and Design Junior College,[2] Suzuki became a research student in Bungakuza.[2][3]

In 1994, after her institute graduation, her starring debut was in Ai no Shinsekai.[2] With Reiko Kataoka, it was the first Japanese film with hair nudity, which suddenly attracting attention. The film's director, Kinema Junpo, won the 37th Blue Ribbon Rookie Award and Sponichi Newcomer Award in the Grand Prix of the Mainichi Film Award.

On October 5, 2011, Suzuki married actor Sumihiro Yoshikawa.[4] After their marriage, they had many opportunities to appear on variety shows.[2]

In 2012, she released her first essay, Joyū Geki-ba, from Wanibooks.[5]

On August 15, 2015, Suzuki and Sumihiro Yoshikawa divorced.[6]
