History
The school considered moving to a new site but this was stopped at the last moment due to the BSF scheme being decreased in size.
Architecture
The school grounds are large, and consist of many buildings built over a large period of time. The oldest part, which houses the dining hall and some maths classrooms, is located near the main entrance. The Main block (English, Maths, Languages, Main Hall & Multimedia Resource Centre or the MMRC), Humanities block and Art block are scattered across the school. The Humanities Block connects to the Sports Hall and Gym. Newer parts of the school include the ICT Block, housing two ICT classrooms, and the new Maths Block, housing two maths classrooms. There is also an astroturf pitch, a grass pitch and easy access to the local swimming pool and running track.
Extracurricular activities
Saddleworth School offers a variety of activities, from sports such as football, netball, cross-country, cricket and rounders to arts and science.
