Final
The national final took place at the Sică Alexandrescu Drama Theatre in Brașov on 1 March 2014 and was presented by Nicolle Stănese.[2][6] A combination of votes from a jury panel and the votes from public televoting determined the winning entry: "Miracle" performed by Paula Seling and Ovi. The duo previously represented Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song "Playing with Fire". The jury panel that decided 50% of the outcome consisted of jury president, musician and politician Madalin Voicu, musical director Alexandra Cepraga, 2008 Romanian Eurovision entrant Nico, composer and producer Bobby Stoica and conductor, lyricist and actress Nancy Brandes.[7]
The show featured a tribute to the 46th anniversary of the now discontinued Golden Stag Festival, which was held annually in Braşov. Guests featured actress Stela Popescu, who hosted the first edition of the festival, and performances by Corina Chiriac, Proconsul and Luminiţa Dobrescu.[8]

At Eurovision
During the semi-final allocation draw on 20 January 2014 at the Copenhagen City Hall, Romania was drawn to compete in the second half of the second semi-final on 8 May 2014. Romania would have to place in the top ten of the second semi-final in order to qualify to compete in the final on 10 May 2014.[9] In the second semi-final, the producers of the show decided that Romania would close the semi-final and perform 15th, following Slovenia.[10] Romania qualified from the second semi-final, placing 2nd in the field of 15 songs with 125 points, and competed in the final on 10 May 2014. During the winner's press conference for the second semi-final qualifiers, Romania was allocated to compete in the first half of the final.[11] In the final, the producers of the show decided that Romania would perform 6th, following Norway and preceding Armenia.[12] Romania ultimately placed 12th in the final, scoring 72 points.[13]
On stage, Paula Seling and Ovi were joined by four backing vocalists. The performance featured a large circular keyboard played by Ovi and a holographic effect that superimposed Paula Seling on the screen at one end of the stage before she immediately appears on the other side. The LED screens projected silhouettes of butterflies and whirling colour streams.[14]
In Romania, both the semi-finals and the final were broadcast on TVR1, TVRi and TVR HD with commentary by Bogdan Stănescu.[15] The Romanian spokesperson revealing the result of the Romanian vote in the final was Sonia Argint Ionescu.[16]
