Rajarshi Memorial Higher Secondary School, Vadavucode

Rajarshi Memorial Higher Secondary School [1] is a senior secondary school situated in the village of Vadavucode, Kerala, India. The school was started by the great philanthropist and social worker Kadayath Pyli Abraham.His younger brother K P Pathrose who was also a high court advacate led a significant role in the founding of the school. Also his Son in law Kurisinkal Abraham Abraham popularly known as K A Abraham led a huge role in the success of the school in the late 1960s.

History

The founder of Rajarshi Memmorial Higher Secondary School was Kadayath Pyli Abraham. He was from a very reputed aristocratic family from Vadavucode namely Kadayath Karuthedath Thollasery Family which traces its roots to Udayamperoor. He was the first manager of the school and was succeeded by his younger brother K P Pathrose after his untimely demise in 1941 . Then Dr Elizabeth became the manager followed by his son KA Paul's wife Alice Paul. The ownership of the school was handed over to Catholicate and M D Schools corporate management by his son K A Paul in 1989.

The school was given the name of Rama Varma XV (27 December 1852 – 1932) (Raja Rama Varma), also known as Rajarshi, of Cochin state.[2] He was enthroned as Maharaja on 23 October 1895 and abdicated in 1914. His son Rao Sahib I.N. Menon allowed starting an upper primary school at Vadavucode.

Location

The school is situated in a small village, called Vadavucode, 21 km from Kochi. Nearest villages are Pancode, Puthencruz, Kolenchery.
