Karakend (Nagorno-Karabakh)
Qarakənd (Armenian: Բերդաշեն, Berdashen) (also Kara Kana, and Karakend) is a village de facto in the Martuni Province of the Republic of Artsakh and de jure Khojavend Rayon of Azerbaijan. Berdashen means "village of the fortress" in Armenian. Qarakənd means "black village" in the Caucasian Turkic. The area has been controlled by the breakaway Republic of Artsakh since the Nagorno-Karabakh War.
