He was educated at Canberra Grammar, Canberra, A.C.T., Australia. In 2015, Prince Ata became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church).[1][2]

Prince Ata soon after became fascinated with the Siasi ‘o Tonga Tau’ataina (Free Church of Tonga), the first congregation founded and established in Tonga by his ancestor King George Tupou I. Though many believed that he would maybe someday revert to the Methodist Church, Prince Ata made known his interests in the Free Church of Tonga when he attended the church’s school, Tailulu’s, Vava’u branch as sea to their Jubilee and opening of the newly renovated campus’ library. Prince Ata is now a member of the Free Church of Tonga and is respected as an active youth member in the vahenga of Tongatapu.
