Poola Rangadu (1989 film)

Poola Rangadu is a 1989 Telugu-language comedy film, produced by Y. Satyanarayana under the Subhodaya Art Productions banner and directed by Relangi Narasimha Rao. It stars Rajendra Prasad, Ashwini, Vanisri with music composed by Raj-Koti.[2] The film borrows shades of the old Telugu movie Vichitra Kutumbam, starring N. T. Rama Rao, Savitri, Krishna in pivotal roles.[3]

Plot

The film begins in a village where its President Harischandra Prasad (Sarath Babu) a reputable person, leads a happy family life with his innocent timid wife Parvathi (Vanisri) and short-tempered younger brother Ranga (Rajendra Prasad). Parvathi endears as her son who always involved in the superfluous conflict. He becomes a tough nut to a vicious person Nagabhuashanam (Nutan Prasad) one the aspires to acquire authority over the village. Meanwhile, Ranga loves cute village girl Gowri (Aswini) whose elder sister Lakshmi (Srilakshmi) is mentally retarded. Once, Nagabhuashanam molests her but Ranga cleverly performs her marriage with him. Keeping the grudge in mind, Nagabhuashanam intrigues to kill Ranga & Harichandra Prasad but they escape. Eventually, again elections are announced in the village when Nagabhuashanam threatens Parvathi and makes Harischandra Prasad not to stand. So, to protect the village, Ranga competes. During the time of the campaign, so many fracases arise when Ranga is about to beat Nagabhuashanam, Parvathi stops and takes him away. But Nagabhushanam files the attempt murder case on Ranga. In the court, Parvathi affirms Ranga as guilty and he is sentenced. Everyone including Harichandra Prasad blames Parvathi, then divulges the reason behind her deed is to safeguard Ranga until completion of the elections. Time passes, Rang wins with a huge majority and releases. Here he shows hatred towards his brother & sister-in-law to keep them away until he achieves his goal. At present, Ranga starts teasing Nagabhshanam and develops the village. Simultaneously, Govt sanctions Rs.1 crore to their village panchayat, for which Nagabhushanam kidnaps Harischandra Prasad & Parvathi. At last, Ranga protects them and sees the end of Nagabhushanam. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note with the marriage of Ranga & Gowri.
