Gray said in an interview that the inspiration of the song came from "nowhere."[2] Paul Hartnoll of Orbital was commissioned to remix the song. The remix was pressed as 10" and 12" promos,[3] and was featured as the "record of the week" on Pete Tong's Essential Selection, gaining massive airplay in Ibiza.[2]

"Please Forgive Me" was featured in the 2001 Irish film On the Edge and also briefly featured in the pilot of the US TV show Scrubs.

The song was also chosen to be showcased on MusicMatch Jukebox as a sample on Windows XP in 2001 roughly by HP.

gollark: Anyone know a good way to totally disable silverfish?
gollark: I don't think that would be better.
gollark: I guess it could be modified to stay on until 50% heat, but that would be mostly unhelpful except during very high but brief demand (which is why we have actual buffers) and also would be unsafe.
gollark: I don't know if the current control system could read the comparator as analog and stay turned on for longer, but it wouldn't help outside of weird circumstances.
gollark: We have stable power. It just can't scale to above 2.7kRF/t or whatever.
