Rob Malone

Robbie "Rob" Malone is the bass player for English musician David Gray.[1]

Biography

Malone hails from Donaghmede, Dublin, Ireland, and previously played bass for Hothouse Flowers,[2] The Corrs, Jamie Lawson, Hinterland, Damien Dempsey, Mary Coughlan, Juliet Turner, The Pale, Gemma Hayes, Bronagh Gallagher and The Sofas to name but a few.

He is probably best known for his bass playing for Dublin prog rockers LiR who were touted as the next big thing in Ireland in the early 90s.

Before embarking on a career with Lir, Malone played acoustic guitar for the church youth choir in Donaghmede.

Malone has co-written a number of songs and co produced on recent David Gray albums which have reached the US Billboard top ten.

He recently recorded on “The Corrs” 2017 record “ Jupiter Calling” which was produced by the legendary T Bone Burnett.
