Pinkvilla is an online Bollywood website.[1] Comscore revealed that Pinkvilla was the top entertainment portal in India for March 2019.[2][3] The site has over 100,000 posts and a digital reach of over 40 million unique pageviews every month.[4] In 2018, Pinkvilla collaborated with Hotstar.[4]

Pinkvilla was launched in December 2007.[5] The platform gained traction in 2009 when some photos of Sonam Kapoor went viral.[5][6] The site is founded by a former Microsoft software engineer Nandini Shenoy.[7] Pinkvilla has a hindi version called "Hindi Rush".[8]

Most of Pinkvilla's traffic come from India (65%) followed by USA (14%) and Pakistan (5%).[9]

In addition to Bollywood Pinkvilla also cover fields like fashion, beauty, lifestyle alongside industries which are from different states of India like Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi and Punjabi.[10]

Origination

Pinkvilla CEO Nandini Shenoy who is an ex-Microsoft Employee and an alumnus of National Institute of Technology Karnataka struck with the idea for Pinkvilla in 2007, she felt like using her expertise in software by creating a Bollywood website.

Pinkvilla also started its Hindi version for the vernacular audience called Hindi Rush.[11]
