TLS and so on seek to undermine this further, by forcing you to treat everyone as a faceless certificate surrounded by attackers trying to eavesdrop at all times. gollark: I can go talk to a person human-ishly, and send them some cryptocurrency. It just happens to be over a mechanism which is actually fairly secure, unlike the awful credit card system.
