The Building Schools for the Future program invested £7 million into improving the school, which was completed in September 2013. The school was funded another £4.7 million in 2018 to build 14 new classrooms and science laboratories.

Originally, the school was titled "Our Lady and St. Chad Catholic Sports College"; however, it gained academy status in 2015, partnering with three schools in Wolverhampton.[2][3]

OLSC was led by Ms. Keelan for 30 years. In 2014 she was succeeded by Miss Ellis.

The name of the school comes from the influence of St. Chad. The secondary building, the Marist Centre, was named after the Marist Brothers.

Consortium and houses

OLSC consists of 6 house groups; Bernadette, Kolbe, Romero, Teresa, St. Catherine, and St. Peter.

As of Monday 2 March 2015, Our Lady and St. Chad officially became an Academy along with St. Mary's, Holy Rosary and Corpus Christi Primary Schools to unite as one in the "Pope John XXIII Multi Academy".

gollark: There are also agnostics, which is kind of similar to what you might consider "soft atheism" I guess?
gollark: Yeeees, it does seem very subjective.
gollark: I want maximum customizability on both, since a phone is in essence just a highly integrated portable computer.
gollark: I've heard it said that there's one group which basically just wants something which works for some set of tasks and can't understand why you would want to go to all the work of configuring a device the way you want it, and another one which wants something maximally customizable to set it up as desired and can't understand why you would buy something which doesn't allow that.
