Critical reception
Writing retrospectively for AllMusic, critic Mike DeGagne wrote of the album "it's Frey's perfectly guided vocals and impeccable talent for crafting laid-back love songs that make[s] the album noteworthy." and he also praises that "With Frey's own production assistance, No Fun Aloud stands up as a modest debut album."[1]
