Nikamma

Nikamma is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language action romantic comedy film directed by Sabbir Khan and produced under the banner of Sony Pictures Networks India and Shabbir Khan Films. The film features Shilpa Shetty, Abhimanyu Dassani and Shirley Setia in the lead roles.[1] It marks the debut of Setia in Bollywood and comeback of Shetty to films. Principal photography commenced in July 2019,[2][3] and it was scheduled for theatrical release on 5 June 2020[4] but the release has been postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic.[5]

The film was announced in July 2019 with Abhimanyu Dassani opposite debutante Shirley Setia in lead. Film is to be directed by Sabbir Khan and produced by Sony Pictures Intl Prod and Sabbir Khan Films. Sabbir Khan in a statement said, "I am always going to try and introduce new talent to the industry and I am excited to present Abhimanyu and Shirley. They are a breath of fresh air."[6] Later Shilpa Shetty joined the cast, making a comeback after thirteen years. In her Instagram account she posted, "My sabbatical of 13 long years comes to an end. I am so excited to announce that the film you will see me next in is Nikamma... Need all your blessings."[7]

The filming began as the first schedule was wrapped up in July 2019.[2] Shetty began filming for her portions on 20 August 2019.[3] The film's shooting was suspended in March 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic and final schedule of the film was postponed indefinitely.[5]
