New Yorker's flagship store in Braunschweig.[1]

In 1971 the first New Yorker store was opened in Flensburg.[1] In December 2006, the company won the first billion in sales. By March 2015, the company owned 1,001 branches in 40 countries:[2] Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Montenegro, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, and Belarus.

In March 2012 Olly Murs became the face for New Yorker's men spring/summer range[3] and customers were able to get their photos taken with a cardboard cut-out of Murs.

The company has over 16,000 employees.[2] New Yorker is naming sponsor of the Braunschweig-based German Football League team New Yorker Lions and the Basketball Bundesliga team New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig. The company also sponsors the international b-boy competition Battle of the Year.

gollark: It's weird that people worry about nuclear waste because it'll still be vaguely dangerous in a few tens of thousands of years (who cares, really? We cannot accurately predict anything that far out) but not very much about arbitrary chemical waste with no halflife.
gollark: And rocket launch is probably less safe than just burying it underground forever, there is not actually that much, especially with better reprocessing.
