AllMusic rated the album with 1 star;[3] however, the average Amazon.com review rating is 4 stars. Some people in jazz saw this as Shank "selling out" to pop music; however, he already had his feet firmly planted in the populist Latin Jazz camp, and from a contemporary perspective the tunes he covers are largely enduring pop classics and not passing fads.

gollark: It has lots of people in it so inevitably some will be weird!
