Michael Tavinor

Michael Edward Tavinor (born 11 September 1953)[1] is the current Dean of Hereford.

Background and Career

Born 1953, parents Harold and Elsie Tavinor. Educated Minet school, Hayes, Middlesex, Bishopshalt School, Uxbridge, Middlesex. 1972–5, University College, Durham, Organ Scholar, BA (Hons) in Music. 1975–6, Emmanuel College, Cambridge, Post-graduate Certificate in Education. 1976–7, King's College, London, Master of Music, Associate of King's College. 1977–9, Teacher (music,RE) Langleybury School, Watford. 1979–82, Ripon College, Cuddesdon, BA in Theology (Oxford University) 1981–2, Venerable English College, Rome. 1982, Ordained Deacon. 1983, Ordained Priest. 1982–5, Assistant Curate, St Peter, Ealing (diocese of London). 1985–90, Precentor, Sacrist and Minor Canon, Ely Cathedral. 1987–90, Priest in Charge, Holy Cross Church, Stuntney. 1990–2002, Vicar, Tewkesbury Abbey (diocese of Gloucester). 2002–present, Dean of Hereford. 2005–present, President, Church Music Society. 2006, Hon Fellow, Guild of Church Musicians. 2010, Master of Theology, University of Wales (Lampeter). 2015, Associate of the Royal School of Church Music.
