Maxime Rouyer

Maxime Rouyer (born July 16, 1994) is a French professional Canadian football linebacker for the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was drafted by the Eskimos fourth overall in the 2019 European CFL Draft.[1] Rouyer played U Sports football for the McGill Redmen.[2]

College career

Born in Troyes, where he started practicing gridiron football with Pygargues de Troyes when he was sixteen, Rouyer moved to Canada and started playing Canadian football, first, two seasons at the Cégep de Jonquière and later, four seasons, from 2015 to 2018, for the McGill Redmen, also earning a major in Physical Education & Health.[3][2]

During his time as a linebacker for the Redmen, Rouyer played 23 games and recorded 103 total tackles and 4.5 quarterback sacks.[1]

Professional career

Rouyer was picked by the Edmonton Eskimos as the fourth overall selection of the 2019 European CFL Draft and signed by the team on May 17, 2019.[4]

Rouyer debuted on week 1 of the 2019 CFL season against the Montreal Alouettes.
