Personal life

Beard was born on October 27, 1948. He drove in six races during the 1982 and 1986 Busch Series, with finishes of 9th, 10th,12th,18th,22nd and 26th, respectively. He did attempt another NASCAR Busch Series race in 1990, but failed to qualify.

Team owner

In 2014, Beard founded Beard Motorsports and fielded one NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team. After the team opened in 2014, Clay Rogers attempted two races with the team in 2014, but failed to qualify for both of them. In 2017, Brendan Gaughan was hired as the team's only driver to drive for the team,[1] and they managed to lock themselves for the 2017 Daytona 500 as an open, non-chartered team.[2]
