Mala Pareshan

Mala Pareshan also Parishan-e Lur[1] (1356-1416), Kurdish: Mela Perêşan/مەلا پەرێشان) is the pen name of the Kurdish[2][3][4] poet Mohammad Abulqasim, one of the first Kurdish poets to write his Diwan in Kurdish.[5][6][7][8]

Life

He was born in the city of Dinawar around the year 1356. Mala Pareshan was a Sufi and a member of Hurufism. [9][10] He was a friend and disciple of Sheikh Rajab Bursi, a 14th-century mystic Hurufism leader.

Poetry

His Diwan was first printed in Kermanshah in 1916 and then it was printed several times later in different places. His poems have a syllabic meter, a common characteristic of Gorani or Hawrami poetry.[11] Most of his poetry is in Kurdish [4], specifically in Gorani dialects. Noted 20th-century classical musician Seyed Khalil Alinezhad used Mala Pareshan's poetry in his music.
