History

Route 87 is the renumbering of the former route 77A from 3 June 2006 in line with TfL's policy of removing letter-suffixed routes.[1]

Upon being re-tendered, the route was retained by London General with a new contract commencing on 1 June 2013.[2][3]

On 30th March 2019, the route entered New Routemaster operation after route 88 was extended to Parliament Hill Fields via Albany Street to replaced route C2, which ceased operation on the same day. Route 88 is now operated via Alexander Dennis Enviro 400Hs and Enviro 400 MMC bodied Alexander Dennis E40Hs.

Current route

Route 87 operates via these primary locations:[4]

gollark: Weaponization of the sun via Nicoll-Dyson beam WHEN?!
gollark: No, you require there to not be too much UV, regardless of how that's provided.
gollark: That's not "required" as much as "extremely nice to have".
gollark: Well, doing enjoyable things is π important where π = 22.
gollark: Less if you ascend™ and upload your mind to the osmarks.tk™ computing clusters.
