Loknayak Jai Prakash Institute of Technology (LNJPIT),[2] is a government engineering college in Bihar. It is managed by the Department of Science and Technology, Bihar.[3] It is approved and recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education and is affiliated to the Aryabhatta Knowledge University of Patna.[4][5][6][7]

The main campus of this college is located in Bihar State Highway (also known as Chapra-Patna Highway) on the outskirts of Saran District, 6 kilometers from Chhapra,Located on the banks of the Ganges River.

The Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board[12](BCECEB) conducts an exam based on the Merit List of the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination successful candidates appear in the counseling at the office of the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board in Patna.

From 2019 onwards admissions in state engineering colleges of Bihar will be based on JEE-MAIN marks.

A B.Sc. Degree / Diploma in Engineering is required for lateral entry in the second year and should be on the merit list of BCECE (LE). Diploma students are preferred over B.Sc. Students in BCECE Lateral Entry Examination[13]

The institute is residential in nature. There are four boys hostels which have the capacity to accommodate 800 students and one hostel has the capacity to accommodate 200 students. Guest house for parents and others located on campus.[15]
