Livenka, Belgorod Oblast

Livenka (Russian: Ливенка) is a rural locality (a selo) in Krasnogvardeysky District of Belgorod Oblast, Russia,[1] located 29 kilometers (18 mi)[2] from the town of Biryuch, the administrative center of the district. Population: 3,870 (2010 Census);[3] 4,101 (2002 Census).[4]

It was founded in 1681 by Vasily Livenets as an outpost settlement.[5]

World War II

In 1943, the Battle of Nikolayevka took place in the vicinity of this village. The battle has become an import point of reference for the Italian Alpini and their fighting spirit. The Alpini Association also supports social programs in the city.
