Leipzig II

Leipzig II is one of the 299 single member constituencies used for the German parliament, the Bundestag. One of sixteen districts covering the state of Saxony, it covers the southern and central parts of the city of Leipzig. The constituency was created for the 1990 election, the first following German reunification. The first two elections in 1990 and 1994 were won by the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). The constituency was then gained by the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) in 1998 but was one of several districts in Saxony which the CDU regained at the 2009 election.[1] The district's representative was Thomas Feist of the CDU from 2009 until 2017 when The Left won this district, their only directly-elected seat outside of Berlin.

gollark: Have you tried becoming a bonobo?
gollark: I don't think that's what I meant either.
gollark: You're both wrong. Society is too complex for people to have gone around designing it. It is unfathomable interactions between complex evolved systems.
gollark: Proactively, perhaps.
gollark: Have you tried not doing that?
