History

A fountain at the mall in August 2018.

The site started with a Boscov's Department Store in August 1972 and the mall was completed in 1975. The Boscov's store at Lebanon Valley Mall was the first Boscov's location outside of Berks County.[3] Lebanon Valley Mall Company built the mall on U.S. Route 422 on the west side of town. Boscov's served as one of the original anchor stores along with G. C. Murphy's discount division, Murphy's Mart. Other major tenants upon opening included Acme Markets, Rea & Derrick drugstore, Kinney Shoes, RadioShack, Zales Jewelers, Hardee's, General Nutrition Center, Waldenbooks, and a movie theater.[1]

Work on the next major expansion began in 1996 and J. C. Penney became a new anchor, but has since closed. A ten-screen Great Escape Theatres location opened at the mall on July 13, 2006.[4] Hobby Lobby also anchors the mall in the former J. C. Penney location.[2]

In 1988, following the closure of the Acme Markets grocery store, Boscov's expanded into that space.[5]

An anchor originally occupied by Murphy's Mart and later Ames partially became Planet Fitness in 2013.[6] The remaining floor space of the former Ames location became a PriceRite supermarket in 2015.[7]

gollark: This is a highly serious application.
gollark: Do they NEED to uninstall it, though? Really? REALLY?
gollark: Er, they are, you used "people" in defining them.
gollark: As I said, you only need to solve it to *uninstall* it.
gollark: The target audience of potatOS is literally everyone everywhere.
