Laxmmi Bomb

Laxmmi Bomb is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language comedy horror film written and directed by Raghava Lawrence in his Hindi directorial debut. It is a remake of the Tamil movie Muni 2: Kanchana and stars Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani.[1] Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film will not be released theatrically and will stream worldwide on Disney+Hotstar.[2]

Production

The film, a remake of Muni 2: Kanchana, was announced in the second half of January 2019 by the director of its original version i.e. Raghava Lawrence with Akshay Kumar in lead role.[6] Principal photography began on 22 April 2019 with the shoot of song "Bismillah". In January 2020, the starcast filmed song "Burj Khalifa" in Dubai.[7] The filming was wrapped up on 1 March 2020.[8]

Marketing and release

The film was scheduled to be released on 22 May 2020,[9] but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[10]

On 29 June 2020, Disney+ Hotstar conducted virtual press conference where Akshay Kumar announced that the film will release on Disney+ Hotstar exclusively as part of Disney+ Hotstar Multiplex initiative which was a result of theatre shut down due to COVID-19 pandemic.[11][2]
