It is located in the Southwest Finland region. The municipality has a population of 8,656 (31 January 2019)[2] and covers an area of 545.32 square kilometres (210.55 sq mi) of which 13.65 km2 (5.27 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 16.28 inhabitants per square kilometre (42.2/sq mi). Laitila is renowned for its poultry farms and egg festival.

The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
