Route description

Hardin County

KY 222 begins at an intersection with U.S. Route 62 (US 62; Leitchfield Road) east-northeast of Stephensburg, within Hardin County. It travels to the southeast and crosses over the Western Kentucky Parkway. It intersects the southern terminus of KY 1904 (Bacon Creek Road) and crosses over Valley Creek. It then enters Glendale, where it intersects KY 1136 (New Glendale Road) and curves to the east-northeast. While still in Glendale, the highway crosses over some CSX railroad tracks and passes the Glendale Volunteer Fire Department. It curves to the southeast and has an interchange with Interstate 65 (I-65). Almost immediately after this interchange is an intersection with US 31W (Dixie Highway). One block later, it makes a right turn and heads to the south-southwest. One more block later, it turns left and resumes its southeastern direction. It crosses over Jackson Branch. The highway curves to the northeast and almost immediately makes a curve back to the southeast. KY 222 then crosses over Pup Run. It makes another curve to the south-southwest and again heads to the southeast. It intersects the southern terminus of KY 1135 (Roundtop Road). Then, it curves to the south-southeast and crosses over Middle Creek, which marks the LaRue County line.[1]

LaRue County

KY 222 curves back to the southeast and passes Big Spring Cemetery. The highway curves to the southwest and curves back to the southeast. It curves back to the southwest and yet again heads to the southeast. Then, it curves to the northeast, then the southeast, and then back to the northeast. The highway has a short northeast section and then curves back to the southeast. It then crosses over the North Fork Nolin River. It then curves to the east-northeast and meets its eastern terminus, an intersection with KY 84 (Tanner Road), at a point southwest of Hodgenville.[1]
