Kenan Kodro
Kenan Kodro (Bosnian pronunciation: [kěnan kôːdro]; born 19 August 1993) is a professional footballer who plays as a forward for Basque club Athletic Bilbao and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

Kodro started his professional career at Real Sociedad's B-team. In 2012 he had a loan spell with Lagun Onak. Two years later he joined Osasuna. In 2017 he moved to Mainz 05, who loaned him to Grasshopper in 2018. Later that year he was transferred to Copenhagen. The following year he moved to Athletic Bilbao.
Born and raised in Spain where his Bosnian father Meho was playing football professionally at the time, Kodro made his senior international debut for Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2017.
Club career
Early career
Born in San Sebastián, Gipuzkoa, Kodro graduated with Real Sociedad's youth setup, and made his senior debut with the reserves, spending several seasons in Segunda División B.[2] In 2012, he had a six-month loan stint at Lagun Onak.[3]
Osasuna
In July 2014, Kodro signed for CA Osasuna, being initially assigned to the B-side in Tercera División.[4] He debuted on 23 August, coming on as a late substitute in a 2–0 home win against Barcelona B in the Segunda División.[5] On 18 October, he scored his first goal for the team, netting a last-minute winner in a 3–2 home win over Tenerife.[6]
On 28 January 2015, Kodro renewed his contract, signing until 2018[7] and being given the number 9 jersey.[8] He was an instrumental part in the Rojillos promotion to La Liga through the play-offs, after scoring three goals in four matches, two of them in the finals against Girona.[9][10]
Kodro made his top tier debut on 19 August 2016, starting in a 1–1 draw at Málaga.[11] He scored his first goal in La Liga on 22 January 2017, in a 3–4 home loss against Sevilla.[12] On 5 March, he netted his first brace in a 2–5 loss at Las Palmas.[13]
Mainz 05
On 26 June 2017, following Osasuna's relegation from the La Liga, Kodro signed a four-year deal with German club 1. FSV Mainz 05.[14][15] Kodro played his first game for the club in a 3–1 DFB-Pokal win over Lüneburger Hansa.[16][17] A week later, he made his Bundesliga debut in a 0–1 loss against Hannover 96.[18][19]
Due to lack of playing time, In February 2018 Kodro joined Grasshopper Club Zürich on loan until the end of the season.[20] While playing for Grasshopper, Kodro scored his first career hat-trick on 21 April.[21] Even though he joined the club mid-season, Kodro finished the campaign as Grasshoppers' top goalscorer with seven goals.[22]
Copenhagen
In July 2018, Kodro joined F.C. Copenhagen and signed a four-year contract.[23] He debuted in UEFA Europa League qualifier against KuPS on 12 July.[24] Four days later, he made his first league appearance for the club, in a home loss to Horsens.[25] Kodro scored his first goal for Copenhagen on 26 July, in an away victory over Stjarnan.[26] A week later, in the return leg, he scored his first hat-trick for the club.[27] On 7 October Kodro scored his first league goal, in a convincing triumph over Randers.[28]
Athletic Bilbao
On 31 January 2019, Kodro returned to Spain after agreeing a three-and-a-half-year contract with Athletic Bilbao for an undisclosed transfer fee.[29][30] He made his debut for the club on 10 February, being introduced as a late substitute in a goalless draw at home to FC Barcelona, one of the clubs his father played for.[31]
International career
On 16 March 2017, Kodro received first senior call-up for Bosnia and Herzegovina by manager Mehmed Baždarević.[32] He debuted twelve days later, starting and providing an assist for Senad Lulić's goal in a 2–1 friendly away win at Albania.[33] He scored his first international goal in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Gibraltar on 3 September 2017.[34]
Personal life
Kenan's father, Meho, was also a footballer and a forward. Both spent time together at Real Sociedad B, the latter as a manager.[35][36] They became first son and father to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina internationally.[37]
