Kelly Moneymaker
Kelly Susan Moneymaker (born June 4, 1970) is an American singer, songwriter, and producer.
Moneymaker was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska. As a teenager, she moved to Seattle to co-found the band BoyToy with Michele Rundgren (formerly Michele Gray) which led to opening for The Tubes on their Love Bomb Tour. A few years later, she moved to California and worked with Todd Rundgren,[1] Wayne Newton,[2] Connie Stevens,[3] Enya,[4] Meat Loaf,[5] Ringo Starr,[6] Diana Ross[7] and many more.
Moneymaker was invited to join Exposé (recently named one of Billboard Magazine's Top 10 Girl-Groups)[8] by Jeanette Jurado after being introduced to her by a mutual friend due to Gioia Bruno's departure due to a medical condition. Moneymaker performed on the Exposé[9] LP which launched the hits "I Wish The Phone Would Ring", "I'll Never Get Over You (Getting Over Me)", "In Walked Love" and "As Long As I Can Dream" as well as the new tracks for their Greatest Hits[10] album, one of which was "End of the World" featured on the Free Willy 2[11] soundtrack.
In 1996, with Arista Records dropping Exposé's contract, Moneymaker pursued solo projects. However, she is still an honorary member of the group and appears with them on special occasions. She has released several independent albums -- Stone[12] LP (2015); Race Against The Sky[13] (2013); Back Seat Taxi LP by Back Seat Taxi; Goddess Killer LP[14] by Silvermoney (2009 with co-founder, Dan Silver); Like a Blackbird LP (1996),[15] and Through The Basement Walls LP[16] (2003) from which "Angels In The Snow" broke Billboard Single Sales as an independent release,[17] "Can't Live Without Your Love" reached #1 on the New Music Weekly AC40 single charts[18] and became the theme song for NBC's Days of Our Lives' super-couple, Bo & Hope. Due to the success of "Can't Live", she co-wrote and co-produced the Love Songs LP[19] for Days of Our Lives, was a featured artist on the album and has made appearances on that show as herself. Kelly has also released holiday singles for charity including "You Are A Snowball",[20] "Jingle Bells"[21] and "No Place Like Home For The Holidays"[22] featuring Sean Holt[23] on saxophone.
The original music Kelly writes/performs/produces has been featured on TV shows such as CSI,[24] Without a Trace, Gossip Girl, Hawaii 5-0,[25] Parenthood, etc. Movies: Warrior, American Pie: The Naked Mile, Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd: Out of Control, Confessions of a Go-Go Girl etc. Games: Guitar Hero[26] and PlayStation 2.
Moneymaker was once married to Stuart Mathis, who worked on sound production during the 1993 Exposé tour, performed with Lifehouse, Lucinda Williams[27] and is now a member of The Wallflowers. She is currently married to actor Peter Reckell, who starred as Bo Brady on Days of Our Lives. In 2007, she gave birth to her first child—daughter Loden Sloan, weighing 6 lbs. 9ozs.[28]
Kelly's All-Star Band "In The Black" includes: Herman Matthews,[29] drums (Tower of Power); Gabriel Moses,[30] guitar (Macy Gray); and Michael Mennell,[31] bass (Sir Tom Jones).
