The station was assigned the call sign KLIB by the Federal Communications Commission on July 20, 1960. The station changed the call sign to KILS on March 1, 1985, to KYUU on October 4, 1988,[1] when it was part of the "LS Network" of Kansas radio entrepreneur Larry Steckline.[3] The call sign changed to KSMM on February 13, 2008.[1]
