History

The 1550 frequency originally debuted as KKJO in 1947. KKJO launched an FM counterpart in 1960 which was renamed KUSN in 1966 and KSFT in 1974. The two stations swapped callsigns in 1988 with KSFT becoming the AM station. It had gone oldies, but later moved to sports talk with coverage of St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Northwest Missouri State University sports.

The station changed call letters to KESJ in late August 2009.

On August 22, 2019, KESJ changed their format from ESPN sports to 1980s-1990s classic hits, branded as "Joe Town 107.5".[2]
