Johnnie Dixon (wide receiver)

Johnnie Dixon (born September 16, 1994) is an American football wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Ohio State and was signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2019.

Early life

Dixon was born September 16, 1994, in Palm Beach, Florida and played football at Dwyer High School. In Dixon's junior year he had 33 receptions for 610 yards and 6 touchdowns, he played his best football in the playoffs with 17 receptions for 366 yards and 6 touchdowns.

College career

Dixon attended Ohio State and didn't play a lot in his freshman or sophomore year due to injury. In his junior year he had 18 receptions for 422 yards and 8 touchdowns. In his senior year, he was voted a team captain and had his best year as a Buckeye with 42 receptions for 669 yards and 8 touchdowns.[1]

Professional career

Houston Texans

After going undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft, Dixon signed with the Houston Texans.[2] On August 31, Dixon was released during final roster cuts[3]

Arizona Cardinals

On September 3, 2019, Dixon was added to the Arizona Cardinals practice squad.[4] On September 30, 2019, Dixon was put on practice squad/IR. On December 30, 2019, Dixon signed a futures contract with the Arizona Cardinals.[5]
